Presidents Report

Hello Ladies, with this writing I hope I will find you all healthy. I know that a lot of people are coming down with the flu and if you do, please stay home so you don’t pass it on. I hope everyone will be able to get their Flu shot and the H1N1 inhalant to help prevent you from getting the different types of flu. I’m not trying to sound like an advertisement on the TV but I do work at Livermore VAMC and I want everyone to try and stay healthy and safe. For September 11th our Auxiliary purchased 200 Black Ribbon Poppies to be given to our Police, Fire Departments and any other Emergency Attendants to wear on their uniforms. The City of Stockton also put on a Patriot’s Day Program in memory of September 11th. I wasn’t able to attend this program so I asked my Sr. Vice President Amanda Smith to represent our Auxiliary and me. On September 19th as your Auxiliary President I participated in Luneta #52 Post and Auxiliary POW-MIA program. For the program, I presented the Six Missing Man Table with help from the Edison High Jr. ROTC and Sr. Vice Auxiliary President Amanda Smith. Our Auxiliary Treasurer/Secretary Rhonda Montgomery did a Candle light ceremony with eight candles representing each war from WWI to Iraq. Rose Felix, our Auxiliary Chaplain, gave the Closing Prayer. This was a very moving and memorable program and I hope next year more of you will be in attendance to see our POW-MIA program. Remember our next patriotic holiday is Veterans Day November 11th, display your Flags. Luneta #52 Post and Auxiliary will be hosting a Veterans Day program in front of the Civic Auditorium at 11:00 am. Please come and join us, everyone is welcome. For the month of November, Luneta Auxiliary #52 voted to put together a display at the library showing what our Auxiliary does for our Veterans and our Community. If anyone is interested in seeing our display it will be located in the display case inside the front door of the Cesar Chavez Library at El Dorado and Oak St. in downtown Stockton. I would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

CANCER PINS

Our Dept. President Sue Wells Cancer pin is picture of  Rosie the Riveter  with the slogan '"WE CAN DO IT!" in bright pink with a pink ribbon.  The pins are sold for $2.00 each.

The Auxiliary donates $2.00 per member to the Cancer Fund.  The monies that are donated in turn come back to our Sisters in the form of a Cancer Grant. California Sisters are one of the highest reciprocate of these grants.  If you are interested in purchasing one you can contact President Kathy Smith or Treasurer Rhonda Montgomery.  We will also have them at our meetings.
